Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I., spoke Feb. 11 as House impeachment managers continued to present evidence for why the Senate should convict former President Donald Trump of inciting an insurrection for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Trump was impeached by the House in January, while he was still in office.
Cicilline played a series of video statements from lawmakers sharing their experiences inside the Capitol on the day of the attack. In one clip, Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., said, “What I felt in the Capitol behind us is something that I haven't felt since I was in Afghanistan as an Army Ranger. And to think that as a member of Congress, in 2021, in the U.S. Capitol, on the House floor, that I was preparing to fight my way out of the people's house against a mob is just beyond troubling.”
