Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Tuesday, a day that leading Republicans and other featured attendees were focused on the themes of safety and immigration.

“Today, Dallas is viewed as America's safest large city and Republicans lead 11 of the top 15 safest cities. And that's because Republicans won't be silent about public safety,” Johnson, who switched his party affiliation from Democrat to the GOP last year and is also chair of the Republican Mayors Association.

During the convention, delegates will adopt a party platform and Trump will formally accept the Republican nomination for president. On Monday, Trump named Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate.
