PBS NewsHour correspondent Lisa Desjardins explains the confusion following a Senate vote to allow witnesses to testify at former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial on Feb. 13. The Senate voted 55-45 to call witnesses following a request from Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., to subpoena Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Wash., for her testimony witnessing an alleged phone call between Trump and Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., during the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

Trump is facing a charge of inciting an insurrection for his role in the Capitol attack last month. At the end of the trial, the Senate will vote on whether to convict or acquit him. Trump was impeached by the House in January, while he was still in office.
