Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, spoke Feb. 11 as House impeachment managers continued to present evidence for why the Senate should convict former President Donald Trump of inciting an insurrection for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Trump was impeached by the House in January, while he was still in office.

Castro said the insurrection was a threat to national security, noting that intelligence agencies now have to figure out exactly which documents were stolen and mitigate any threats. He also said the insurrection exposed a major vulnerability of the U.S.

“Foreign adversaries considering attacking this building got to watch a dress rehearsal,” he said. “They saw that this Capitol could be overtaken.”
