A new documentary explores the little-known stories of the first Black pilots and engineers who became astronauts and pioneers of Nasa's space program. The film "The Space Race," which airs on Feb. 12 on the National Geographic Channel and is streaming starting Feb. 13 on Disney+ and Hulu.

The PBS NewsHour's Geoff Bennett spoke with one of the astronauts featured in the film, retired Maj. Gen. Charles Bolden, about how his time in space changed his perspective on the world.
