President Joe Biden denounced anti-LGBTQ+ legislation as "unjustified and ugly," during a Thursday news conference from the White House with visiting British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

“It’s wrong that extreme officials are pushing hateful bills targeting transgender children, terrifying families and criminalizing doctors,” Biden said in response to a question posed by the PBS NewsHour's Laura Barrón-López. “These are our kids. These are our neighbors.”

Biden announced a series of new initiatives to protect the LGBTQ+ community from attacks, help young people with homelessness and provide mental health resources.
