The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra began to serenade scared audience members who were locked inside the theater after the show, due to the ongoing terror attack outside.
Police kept everyone inside the Vienna State Opera until it was considered safe to come out. Whilst the people were waiting, the orchestra decided to perform a special encore, aiming to soothe the civilians with a symphony.
Austrian Interior Minister Karl Nehammer said four people were killed in the attack, with another 22 injured.
One gunman was shot dead by police, and another two suspects were arrested in St. Poelten, a town to the west of Vienna.
