उमेश पाल अपहरण मामले में उम्रकैद की सजा के बाद माफिया अतीक अहमद (Atiq Ahmed) ने जज से कहा कि मुझे यहां नहीं रहना है. मुझे साबरमती जेल वापस भेजा जाए. कोर्ट ने माफिया अतीक अहमद समेत तीन आरोपियों को दोषी करार दिया है. करीब 17 साल पुराने मामले में एक-एक लाख रुपये का जुर्माना भी लगाया गया है.बता दें कि माफिया और पूर्व सांसद अतीक अहमद और उसके भाई खालिद अजीम उर्फ अशरफ को उमेश पाल के अपहरण के मामले में प्रयागराज की एमपी-एमएलए अदालत में दोपहर करीब 12 बजे पेश किया गया. अहमद को गुजरात की साबरमती जेल और अशरफ को बरेली जेल से सोमवार को प्रयागराज में नैनी केन्द्रीय कारागार लाया गया था. जिला शासकीय अधिवक्ता गुलाब चंद्र अग्रहरि ने बताया कि प्रयागराज की एमपी-एमएलए कोर्ट के जज दिनेश चंद्र शुक्ला ने साल 2006 में हुए उमेश पाल अपहरण मामले में अतीक अहमद, उसके वकील सौलत हनीफ और पूर्व सभासद दिनेश पासी समेत तीन आरोपियों को भारतीय दंड संहिता की धारा 364-ए के तहत दोषी करार देते हुए सश्रम आजीवन कारावास की सजा सुनायी. अदालत ने तीनों पर एक-एक लाख रुपये का जुर्माना भी लगाया है. यह रकम उमेश पाल के परिजन को दी जाएगी.
