The American squad defended their 2015 title after defeating the Netherlands 2-0 to capture their second straight trophy and fourth overall. The victory solidifies them as one of the greatest soccer teams of all time extending their world cup match win streak to 12. The US Women never trailed in the tournament and scored a record 26 goals. In the MLS, Atlanta United hosted the New York Red Bulls which saw some late drama with two goals in stoppage time resulting in a 3-3 draw. Also, the Beach Volleyball World Championships concluded on Sunday in Hamburg where Russia beat the Germans in a three-set thriller to take the gold. RT America’s Steve Christakos reports.
