NASA administrator Jim Brindenstine unveiled the names of American partners chosen to send astronauts back to the Moon, for the first time in nearly five decades in Washington D.C on Thursday.
Known as the "Moon to Mars" project, NASA will lead an innovative and sustainable exploration to explore the moon as part of Space Policy Directive-1, which was signed by President Donald Trump last December. The directive began a return to manned lunar missions, as well as missions to Mars and beyond.
The nine companies that will participate in the project are Astrobotic Technology, Deep Space Systems, Draper, Firefly Aerospace, Intuitive Machines, Lockheed Martin Space, Masten Space Systems, Moon Express and Orbit Beyond.
