America – where the double standards are even bigger than the burgers.
The Biden administration clearly needs to communicate with itself better, since it seems to hold opposing views on security.
Speaking at a press briefing this month, Secretary of State Antony Blinken made clear, when asked about the situation in Ukraine, that the US was ‘committed to uphold’ the right of countries to ‘choose their own security arrangements and alliances.’
Not so fast, Blinken – here comes Department of State spokesman Ned Price a day later, when asked about the possibility of Cuba and Venezuela hosting Russian troops: ‘If we do see any movement in that direction, we will respond swiftly and decisively.’
We’re not sure about ‘decisively,’ since they seemingly can’t even decide between themselves which opinion they hold. Perhaps a more fitting official position should be: ‘We uphold the right of countries to do anything they want that we approve of’?
