US midterm elections: Historic inflation levels at top of voters' minds

Just weeks away from the crucial U.S. midterm elections, early voting is already underway in some states. Democrats are working hard to convince voters they deserve to keep control of both the House and Senate.

But they still have to overcome the rising costs that remain the biggest campaign issue — while inflation hits its highest level in 40 years.

Economic losses for the average American are piling up. Stock market accounts are way down, while mortage rates and consumer prices — like gas and groceries — are way up.

And while Americans traditionally vote with their pocketbooks, Biden is hoping that another hot button issue — abortion rights — will galvanize their base. Jennifer Johnson has more.
