U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday said during a speech on the Senate floor that President Donald Trump was completely within his rights to look into "irregularities" from last week's election.

"President Trump is 100 per cent within his rights to look into allegations of irregularities and weigh his legal options," he said.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also spoke on Monday, stating there was "no evidence of any significant widespread voter fraud" and that the “baseless claims” are rhetoric that is “extremely dangerous, extremely poisonous to our democracy.”

Trump has promised legal action in the coming days as he refused to concede his loss to Biden.
