The US says it is hoping to begin a programme of vaccinations against COVID-19 early as December 11.
The country’s top infectious diseases expert Dr Anthony Fauci says he is hopeful about plans to vaccinate 20 million people before the end of the year.
The announcement comes as daily new infections reach record highs across the US and more than a million passengers boarded planes for the Thanksgiving holiday.
