Ukraine said Thursday it had shot down all 36 Iranian-made drones launched by Russia in overnight attacks, which it said probably targeted critical infrastructure and military facilities.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said it had been an "uneasy night." Also, Ukrainian joint forces commander Serhiy Nayev had visited air defence troops.

"I came to thank our boys who perform air defence tasks in the northern operational zone. They are equipped with a 'Gepard' gun, which has already destroyed enemy targets, four unmanned aerial vehicles 'Shahed' and two cruise missiles," Nayev said.

Army video released Thursday showed Nayev with soldiers who operate the German-made "Gepard" self-propelled anti-aircraft gun. Ukraine also released video purporting to show a drone being shot down over the Kyiv night sky.

Neither Reuters nor Global News was able to independently verify the location of the footage nor the date it was filmed.
