Ukrainian presidential candidate and incumbent President Petro Poroshenko passed a blood test for alcohol and drugs at Kiev's Olimpiysky stadium on Friday, ahead of a televised debate between him and comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
After passing the blood test, Poroshenko said he considers Zelenskiy's proposal to make Yulia Tymoshenko the moderator of the debate as disrespectful to her and her voters.
"Voters need to be respected. I respect voters, and first of all, I am very grateful to those who voted for me on March 31, and I have great respect for Yulia Tymoshenko's voters," Poroshenko said of the former Ukrainian prime minister.
"By the way, I have great respect for those who voted for Volodymyr Zelenskiy, they are not indifferent, they expressed their opinion. I will do my best to convince them in the second round to vote for me," the incumbent president added.
Previously, Zelenskiy said that he accepts Poroshenko's challenge to hold a debate before the second round of the election, but with the condition that it be held at Kiev's Olimpiysky stadium, including a requirement for both of the candidates to pass medical tests to prove they do not abuse alcohol or drugs.
Zelenskiy won the first round of the presidential election on March 31, gathering 30 percent of the vote. He will face Poroshenko in the runoff election on April 21.
