UK inflation falls by 0.4% from last month - to 10.1%

Inflation has eased slightly to 10.1% from 10.5% last month - as increases in fuel price slowed. This means that the cost of living is now rising at a lower rate than was predicted.

The rate eased in January from December in the latest sign that the UK might have seen the worst of inflation after a 41-year high of 11.1% was recorded in October.
