Raging wildfires continued to spread across several coastal cities in Turkey on Saturday, causing damage to houses and forests, and leaving at least people six dead.

Authorities asked residents to leave their homes as plumes of smoke rose to the skies of Marmaris and Manavgat.

A family who fled as a wildfire bore down on their home in Turkey returned to the scene on Saturday to find their house a blackened shell and all their possessions destroyed.

Mehmet Demir and his family had no time to gather belongings as they escaped on Wednesday with only the clothes they were wearing.

Turkey's Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli said a total of 98 fires had broken out in the past four days, of which 88 were under control.

Satellite imagery showed smoke from the fires in Antalya and Mersin was extending to the island of Cyprus, around 150 km (100 miles) away.
