Turkey-Syria earthquake: Hope endures as rescuers pull survivors, including kids, from the rubble

As the death toll from the massive earthquake that hit parts of Turkey and Syria on Monday has risen past 23,000 people, stories of dramatic rescues still unfolding are giving people glimmers of home among the ruins of destroyed cities.

In the city of Kahramanmaraş, video from the Turkish Police Service shows a man reciting verses from the Quran as rescue workers freed him from the rubble. Crews in Hatay worked through the night and eventually pulled a 10-day-old baby and its mother from a building. And in Jableh, Syria, a mother was taken by stretcher from under rubble while her son was carried out by several rescuers to the cheers of people.

International support has also arrived in the countries, with emergency workers from Canada, Greece, Iran and many others helping local teams find people and get them to safety.
