Trump guilty: Former US president calls hush money trial "rigged," DA says case followed "facts"

Former U.S. president Donald Trump has been found guilty on all 34 charges in his criminal hush money trial in New York City, N.Y., on Thursday.

Trump has been found guilty of falsifying business documents to cover up a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election. “This was a rigged, disgraceful trial,” Trump told reporters outside the courtroom, minutes after the verdict was delivered.

“The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people,” Trump said, suggesting he will appeal the verdict and saying the case was “far from over.”

District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a press conference that "This type of white collar prosecution is core to what we do at the Manhattan District Attorney's office."

"While this defendant may be unlike any other in American history, we arrived at this trial and ultimately, today, at this verdict in the same manner as every other case that comes to the courtroom doors by following the facts and the law and doing so without fear or favor," Bragg added.

The conviction will not prevent Trump from campaigning or taking office if he wins the Nov. 5 U.S. presidential election.
