Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday marked one month since the Hamas attack on southern Israel on Oct. 7, killing 1,400 people and taking some 240 hostages.

Trudeau reiterated his call for a humanitarian pause in Gaza, saying it would allow hostages to be released, aid and medication to be delivered, and civilians and foreign nationals, including Canadians, to get out of Gaza.

The prime minister also said that the acts of antisemitism being seen across Canada, as people grapple with the reality of the Israel-Hamas conflict, are “terrifying.” He added that acts of hatred against both Jewish and Muslim communities are “unacceptable,” and said political leaders need to combat this by “bringing people together.”
