The Canadian federal government announced Wednesday it will extend multiple critical COVID-19 emergency benefits aimed at helping businesses during the pandemic.

The Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy, as well as the Lockdown Support programs, will be extended until June 5, 2021.

Speaking alongside Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry François-Philippe Champagne, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said they will “remain at the current levels.”

“Times are hard,” he said. “We’re here to provide you with the support you will need to make it through this crisis, as long as it lasts.”

Trudeau also announced that the first doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine have arrived in Canada.

Canada has received 500,000 doses of the vaccine, the third approved for use in Canada, from the Serum Institute of India.
