Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will make an announcement Tuesday in New Brunswick about his government's efforts to bring high-speed internet to more Canadian homes.

The announcement comes two weeks after the federal government said during a visit to Bridgenorth, north of Peterborough, that it would invest more than $56 million to connect 16,000 homes across rural eastern Ontario.

Ontario's Minister of Infrastructure Kinga Surma said at the time the combined funding would support three-high speed internet projects by Cogeco and Bell Canada.

The Cogeco project is set to be completed by March 2024 and Bell's between Marcha nd December 2025.

Among the projects includes an area stretching from Lakefield to Fenelon Falls. The announcement impacts 51 central and eastern Ontario communities.
