The streets of Villahermosa in Mexico looked more like the canals of Venice on Tuesday, as floodwaters from storm Eta's torrential rains have yet to subside.
Swathes of Mexico's Gulf state of Tabasco have been underwater for days after the storm dumped water throughout the region this past weekend.
People plied Villahermosa's streets in small boats and had to climb ladders to reach the second stories of homes to escape the floodwaters.
One local said he was reluctant to go to government-sponsored shelters due to the threat of the coronavirus.
Locals in Tabasco have accused authorities of providing no support for storm victims.
