Justice BV Nagarathna is in line to become the first female Chief Justice of India in 2027. Led by Chief Justice NV Ramana, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the names of nine judges for elevation; the United Arab Emirates today said that it is hosting former Afghan president Ashraf Ghani "on humanitarian grounds" after he fled from Afghanistan amid a Taliban takeover. "The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation can confirm that the UAE has welcomed President Ashraf Ghani and his family into the country on humanitarian grounds," the ministry said in a brief statement; Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was cleared by a Delhi court today of charges linked to the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar in 2014.
