At least 23 people have or have attempted to take their lives after being handed substantial bills for unpaid taxes.

Those taxes should have been paid by their employers.

But in what is being compared to the Post Office Horizon scandal, the employees - who were often
agency workers - were told by the HMRC they were being ordered to foot the bill.
