US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Israel and the Occupied West Bank this week and is expected to talk about a continued strategy towards a sustained ceasefire in the region.

There is quite a bit of optimism over the announcement of the extension. The US wants to seize on this opportunity, not only in terms of mediation to establish a more sustainable ceasefire, but also to provide humanitarian aid in terms of fuel, food and medical supplies to Palestinians in Gaza.
