In April 2009, the Indonesian fishing boat, the Siev 36, exploded off Ashmore Reef, killing five Afghan asylum seekers. The sailors involved have never spoken publicly about what happened, even when they were accused of gross misconduct. That all changes tonight. In 2010, Peter Overton had the privilege of meeting the crews of the HMAS Childers and Albany. What they went through on that day at the reef was life changing.
