In a case involving terrorism and secessionist actions in the Kashmir Valley in 2016-17, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court sentenced Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik to life in jail. Malik was brought before Additional Sessions Judge Parveen Singh in a high-security courtroom and given a life sentence and a fine of Rs 10 lakh. A comprehensive sentencing order is expected soon.
