Tensions on the picket line have risen after 1,500 members of the Ontario Dump Truck Association (ODTA) began job action last Monday.

The association is fighting for an increase in wages. Right now, dump truck drivers operate for about $95 an hour, but with the cost of diesel on the rise and increased insurance premiums, they say they need closer to $130 an hour to make ends meet.

They also have concerns with employment, particularly paid breaks and safety standards on job sites across the province. As Morganne Campbell reports, the action has put some construction projects on hold.
