A group of renters in Lethbridge, Alta. are in limbo after Alberta Health Services issued multiple closure and work orders for an apartment complex.

Currently there are five active work orders in place, spanning back to May 2023. The orders include flooring, drywall, and electrical problems, with two-unit closures in effect as of April 3, 2024.

“With the current situation with AHS, obviously there’s a standard of living that is not being met here,” said resident and former property manager Sherida Scott.

Tabetha Dolan attempted to rent a unit last year, but the day she was supposed to move in, she says the unit was in deplorable condition.

“It was gross is all I can describe it as, there was animal feces on the ground, mouse droppings everywhere," said Dolan.

As Global's Sarah Jones reports, despite residents complaining they say nothing is being done.
