रोहित ने सेमीफाइनल में हार के बाद कहा, ''निराश हूं. हमने अच्छी बैटिंग की. लेकिन बॉलिंग के मामले में पीछे रह गए. नॉकआउट मैचों में सब कुछ प्रेशर हैंडल करने पर निर्भर करता है. सभी खिलाड़ी इस बात को समझते हैं. ये सभी आईपीएल मैचों में प्रेशर में खेल चुके हैं. सब कुछ शांत रहने पर निर्भर करता है.''

भारतीय कप्तान ने इंग्लैंड को जीत का क्रेडिट देते हुए कहा, ''हम शुरुआत में नर्वस थे. लेकिन जीत का पूरा क्रेडिट उनके ओपनर्स को जाता है. वे वाकई बहुत अच्छा खेले. जब हम पहला मैच बांग्लादेश के खिलाफ जीते थे तो उसने हमारे कैरेक्टर को दिखाया था. लेकिन यह मैच ट्रिकी था. मुझे लगता है कि 9 ओवरों में 85 रनों को डिफेंड करना मुश्किल है. लेकिन फिर भी हमने प्लान पर काम किया.''

एडिलेड में खेले गए मुकाबले में भारत की शुरुआत खराब रही. ओपनर केएल राहुल सिर्फ 5 रन बनाकर आउट हो गए. सूर्यकुमार यादव 14 रन बनाकर आउट हुए और रोहित 27 रन बनाकर पवेलियन लौटे. इसके बाद टीम इंडिया का बॉलिंग अटैक भी बुरी तरह फ्लॉप रहा. भारत का कोई भी गेंदबाज इंग्लैंड की ओपनिंग जोड़ी को नहीं तोड़ पाया. एलेक्स हेल्स और जोस बटलर ने ताबड़तोड़ बैटिंग करते हुए इंग्लैंड को 10 विकेट से जीत दिला दी.
