Sweden's Director of Public Prosecution Marianne Ny, and Chief Prosecutor Ingrid Isgren, held a press conference in Stockholm, Wednesday, on the ongoing rape investigation against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
SOT, Marianne Ny, Director of Stockholm's Public Prosecution (Swedish): "We've convened this press conference today because we want to give you a summary of the situation so far. I have to admit however that there is nothing really new that I'm gonna be able to tell you today."
SOT, Marianne Ny, Director of Stockholm's Public Prosecution (Swedish): "My assessment was that we would have to accept any loss of quality when it came to the investigation material, that the interview in London would lead to, and also accept the fact the interview may not take the investigation any further forward."
SOT, Ingrid Isgren, Chief Prosecutor (Swedish): "Ecuador informed us that if an interview will take place then it is to be conducted by a prosecutor from Ecuador, and they also asked us to compile a list of questions which we would like to ask to Mr. Assange during the interview."
SOT, Marianne Ny, Director of Stockholm's Public Prosecution (Swedish): "And as you've already understood, we don't know the answer to that question [when interview will take place]."
SOT, Marianne Ny, Director of Stockholm's Public Prosecution (Swedish): "It's obviously a loss of quality if it's someone else rather than our investigator, that has a good knowledge of the case and good understanding of the general picture, is allowed to conduct the interview and if interview is conducted by someone else, this will obviously lead to loss of quality."
