Sunak: No need for Zahawi to stand down during tax investigation

Rishi Sunak says he will not ask the Tory party chairman Nadhim Zahawi to stand down while an independent adviser investigates his compliance with the ministerial code.

Mr Zahawi is facing questions over his tax affairs after it emerged he paid a penalty to HMRC over unpaid tax while he was chancellor.

Tax expert Dan Neidle told Sky News the Mr Zahawi received around £27m but did not initially pay anything.
