Thousands of people continued to protest outside the Sudanese Defence Ministry compound in Khartoum on Sunday, despite a major deal between the army and opposition leaders. On Saturday, the two sides agreed to set up a joint civilian-military council to solve the crisis.
The 10-member military council took control after ousting the long-time leader Omar Al-Bashir in a coup on April, 11. On the same day protesters flooded the area outside the Defence Ministry demanding transition to civilian rule.
The army leaders had refused to hand over key powers until the agreement with protesters on Saturday. It's still to be seen if the joint council would be able to find a solution to the crisis.
