A heavy police presence was seen outside the Feria de Madrid events venue on Wednesday, as taxi-drivers began their third consecutive day of protest in the Spanish capital.
Protesters cut off the route to the airport and to the Fitur tourism fair at Feria de Madrid, by blockading streets with burning rubbish bins. Riot police and fire engines were deployed to the area.
On Monday, taxi-drivers started an indefinite strike against ride-hailing VTC services, including Uber and Cabify. Tensions grew when a protester was badly injured by a vehicle reportedly carrying VTC plates in Madrid on Tuesday.
