A severe stormfront is expected to hit several U.S. states this week, bringing potential flash floods and tornadoes amid record heatwaves, according to the American National Weather Service.

After a weekend of intense rainfall, Washington is expected to be hit with even more storms. D.C.’s Homeland Security is set to issue its second-highest alert warning of high-speed winds, too.

In Texas, dangerously hot temperatures — up to 40 degrees Celsius — are expected and could stretch all the way through Florida. Global’s Nathaniel Dove has the latest.
