Violent confrontations between protesters and police have erupted in Senegal after a leading opposition figure was sentenced to two years in prison.
Ousmane Sonko was found guilty of “corrupting youth” but acquitted of rape charges.
His supporters say the trial is an attempt to prevent him from running for office next year.
Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports from Dakar, Senegal.
