Saskatchewan sees first big snowfall as howling winds, fallen trees prompt travel advisories

Travel advisories were in effect on several Saskatchewan highways Monday warning of icy, slippery conditions and road closures after the southern part of the province was blanketed in its first big snowfall.

While flurries are not uncommon this time of year, the added wind gusts of up to 50 km per hour and wet heavy flakes on trees were a recipe for disaster.
