Germany confirmed it would send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine - and allow partner nations to re-export theirs. This was followed swiftly by the United States, with President Biden pledging dozens of Abrams tanks for Kyiv - insisting they posed no offensive threat to Russia.

Instead, he told Moscow - if your troops return 'to where they belong, this war would be over today'. As for Russia - they accused the West of moving to a "new level of confrontation."
