Throughout the conflict in Ukraine, Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, has carefully chosen his public appearances. He gave a press conference at a spaceport in Russia's east on day 48 of the conflict to declare that his country would fight until its objectives were met. He explained why he thought the invasion was justified, reiterating unproven allegations of genocide against Russian speakers in Ukraine. He stated that the goal was to "assist individuals."
