An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council has been held at Russia's request.
That's as Moscow accuses the United States of irresponsibly escalating tension in the Middle East - following last week’s US military attacks on positions in Iraq and Syria.
Washington says its actions were in retaliation for Iran-backed strikes on its bases.
