Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s Danube ports overnight — its seventh in just one month — damaging warehouses and grain silos, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In response, Zelenskyy says the ‘terrorist” attack “is a blow to world food prices” as well as to “social and political stability in Africa (and) Asia.”

“No other terrorist in the world, apart from Russia, has ever so openly and intentionally targeted the security of so many nations at once,” the world leader added.

Before Russia pulled out of the Black Sea grain deal last month, sacrificing safe exports for Ukraine, the Danube ports accounted for about one quarter of grain exports.

These ports become the main export route, with grain sent on barges to Romania's Black Sea port of Constanta for shipment onwards.
