Both China and India have stationed artillery, air support and tens of thousands of troops at the “Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the disputed Ladakh region that lies between the nuclear-armed powers. The 17-month standoff has seen brutal hand-to-hand combat, fatalities, provocations and humiliations on both sides. China’s ambitious Belt and Road initiative has led to closer collaboration with Pakistan, further souring Sino-Indian relations. Last week, 200 Chinese troops who’d allegedly trespassed into Indian territory were reportedly detained for hours. RT America's Alex Mihailovich takes a look. Then former Pentagon official Michael Maloof joins RT America’s John Huddy (in for Rick Sanchez) to share his expertise.
US Navy engineer Jonathan Toebbe and his wife Diana Toebbe have been busted trying to sell “restricted data'' concerning the design of US nuclear submarines for $100,000 in cryptocurrency. The unscrupulous couple hid data cards in peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches, among other things, and left them at predetermined drop sites. It turns out the Toebbes were in contact not with a foreign government but with FBI agents posing as one. RT America’s Faran Fronczak reports.
RT America's Rachel Blevins reports on a recent bombing attack in Yemen, targeting officials in the southern port city of Aden. At least six people were killed. The attack comes in the context of the brutal and protracted civil war, exacerbated by a Saudi-led blockade, which has resulted in famine and an inadequate COVID-19 response in the country. RT America's Trinity Chavez reports on the the confusion and disorder hitting airports across the US as Southwest Airlines sees its third day of mass cancellations. Plus, NASA's Perseverance rover collected rocks and captured images of Mars that indicate water once flowed on the Red Planet. Scientists are busily searching for evidence of organic compounds in the samples of rock, the presence of which would point to the reality of Martian life in ancient times. RT America's Mollye Barrows has the details. Then Dr. Avi Loeb of Harvard University joins to share his expertise. He describes the reasons for the evaporation of water on Mars and says "a massive planet like the Earth" is needed "to sustain the atmosphere and liquid water for a long time." He also discusses the theory of panspermia, which admits the possibility of extraterrestrial origins to earthly life and vise versa.
