Police in western Canada are reporting an increase in sudden deaths as a record-breaking heatwave continues to scorch parts of North America.
The temperature has soared to nearly 50 degrees Celsius in British Colombia, an all-time record.
Authorities are urging people to stay indoors, drink water and check in on vulnerable friends and relatives.
The heat is expected to continue throughout the week and more records could be broken in the coming days.
