Progress and challenges in extending Israel-Hamas truce

The ongoing truce in Gaza, which has been extended for a few more days, will likely be extended for another day or two, but is “unlikely” to continue indefinitely, US defence analyst Benjamin Friedman told Al Jazeera.

“I think the Israelis are eager to resume the war sooner or later in the south, and feel kind of compelled by their politics to do so,” Friedman, policy director of the US-based think tank Defense Priorities, said.
