Prince Harry urged people around the world to follow Nelson Mandela’s example and take action, as the world faces threats ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic to the war in Ukraine and climate change.
The Duke of Sussex made the remarks during his keynote speech at the United Nations (UN) on Nelson Mandela International Day.
“Right now the water is rising all around us. In some places quite literally,” he said.
“So, it’s more important than ever that we seek a purpose greater than ourselves and get to work. After all Mandela was not only a man of purpose, he was a man of action.”
Prince Harry also called on world leaders to do their part to limit the impact of climate change, telling them: “the right thing to do is not up for debate.”
