Poland has moved to strengthen its defensive efforts in the face of illegal Belarusian border crossings, beginning construction on a $407 million border wall.

Soldiers and contractors are starting work on the costly crossing deterrent, which is set to stand at 5.5 meters high and will span 186 kilometers of the border.
