Boris Johnson tells Sky News that a windfall tax on energy companies is a bad idea, as the UK needs them to invest in new green energy infrastructure.

The Prime Minister also faced difficult questions as he offered his final message to voters during a campaign visit to Southampton Airport.

On the suggestion from George Eustice that one solution to the cost of living crisis was for people to revert to buying value products, Mr Johnson sidestepped: "What we want to do is help people in any way we can through the aftershocks of COVID.

"We are helping in the immediate term - a £22bn package, £9.1bn on fuel alone."
