Major flooding in Pakistan in the past few months has left more than 1,100 dead, more than 300 of which are children. The overactive monsoons season has also put a third of the country under water.
Many bridges and roads have been ruined by the disaster, making it difficult to get aid to people who are displaced and experiencing homelessness.
Officials estimate the waters have done $10 billion in damage, taking down entire homes, businesses and in some cases, towns.
Pakistan’s top climate official called the flooding a “climate-induced humanitarian disaster of epic proportions.” While the floods have begun receding, the next major concern health officials say is waterborne diseases like diarrhea and skin infections.
